An innovative energy firm has announced that it will create dozens of jobs in Dundee after opening a base in the Scottish city.

The energy efficiency specialist ProCenseo, which calculates the carbon footprint of commercial buildings, has relocated to Scotland's fourth largest city creating 27 jobs in the process.

Assisted by a £200,000 grant from the Scottish government, the company disclosed that it had chosen Dundee because of its experienced and skilled labour market, the Press and Journal reported.

Jim Mather, enterprise minister, described ProCenseo's decision as "particularly exiting" for the economic and employment benefits it will offer the city.

He told the newspaper: "The company's decision to locate this project in Dundee underlines the city workforce's reputation for excellence."

Last month, the Association for the Conservation of Energy released a report suggesting that reducing the carbon emissions of Scotland's housing stock will generate 10,000 employment opportunities.
