The Fawcett Society will launch an anti-sexism manifesto, it has been reported. Sexism and the City calls for a change in the law to stop sexism in the workplace and an end to firms hiring strip clubs for their business meetings. "Women have the right to dignity and respect in their workplaces and in their daily lives," explained Katherine Rake, director. "It is time for women and men to stand up against the sexist culture of objectifying women that has gripped our society." It calls for the clubs to be re-classified as "sex encounter establishments", like sex shops. Additional findings by the women's rights group revealed that only 11 per cent of company directors are female and women working full-time are paid 11 per cent less than men. Despite this, many women have reached the top of their profession, including Jacqui Smith, the UK's first female home secretary and Baroness Williams of Crosby who co-founded the Social Democratic Party.
