The Times has announced the winners of its Graduate Recruitment Awards for 2008. The awards were based on face-to-face interviews with 15,000 final-year students. For the fifth year running graduates voted the professional services company PricewaterhouseCoopers the most desirable recruiter. Clifford Chance offered the best legal jobs and beat Allen & Overy and Linklaters to be awarded Employer of Choice for Law Proctor & Gamble won both the Marketing and Sales awards, Accenture was declared the best recruiter in consulting and IBM beat Microsoft and Google in the IT sector. University leavers looking for retail jobs were most impressed with Marks and Spencer, which retained its graduate employer of choice for retail and Tesco, which scooped the general management prize ahead of Aldi. Most big firms have graduate training schemes, although small enterprises have claimed it is easier to make an impression and be involved when working for them.
