In the latest employment news, it has emerged that the number of European migrants coming to the UK in search of work has fallen significantly.

A report in today's (August 22nd) Financial Times revealed that the number of migrants seeking work in the UK has dropped to the lowest level seen for four years.

The news will no doubt be welcomed by British people searching for job vacancies, with the Home Office reporting that 27 per cent fewer migrants came to the UK in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2007.

Furthermore, the Financial Times reported that many Polish workers were beginning to return home, due to the fall in value of the pound and the fact that the Polish economy has improved.

In a separate report – also published recently – it showed that the population of Britain has increased by nearly two million since 2001.
