Equality in the workplace and salary discrepancies between men and women will "only be resolved over time", according to one UK-based professional organisation.

Tanya Hine, president of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, claimed that although there has been some progress in improving workplace equality, it would take "a lot of years" to break the glass ceiling completely.

"It's not something that can be legislated or dealt with. It just causes more upset and it's really not the solution, but slowly of course it will happen," she explained.

Meanwhile, those currently signed to an employment agency may be interested to learn that a recent poll by Perriam and Everett revealed that female employees are better at negotiating salaries than their male counterparts.

Furthermore, one national finance recruiter claimed that four out of five of its directors are women.
