High street bank HSBC has announced that it will be opening up 20 new jobs in Northern Ireland, it has been reported.

The jobs at HSBC will be filled at its new branch at Royal Avenue in Belfast with the premises offering customers the full range of retail, commercial and financial planning services, according to News Letter.

"This new opening is part of HSBC's continuing expansion plans," Cecil Russell, HSBC regional director for Northern Ireland told the paper.

"Northern Ireland has become increasingly global in outlook and people here, both locals and internationals, expect more from their bank."

He added: "With a presence in over eighty countries worldwide HSBC is able to offer unrivalled access to international banking services as well as local expertise from professionals on the ground."

The new branch will open its doors in December of this year and is one of a number of other branches to be built in Northern Ireland since 2001.
