Plans have been unveiled for a huge new retail park on the edge of Peterhead which is predicted to create hundreds of job vacancies in the area.
The scheme involves creating a 50,000 square foot park for eight large-scale shopping outlets and the Press and Journal reports that it already has backing from Aberdeenshire's Buchan area committee.
Hermiston Securities is leading the project and is apparently talking to a number of major retailers to take a space in the park.
Although numbers are yet to be confirmed, employment agencies will be pleased to hear that up to 300 new job vacancies could potentially be created.
A pub, restaurant and 45-room hotel is also planned for the site which will create an additional 50 job vacancies in a further boost to local employment.
The Press and Journal also reports that the Scottish government has approved in principle a £4.5 million grant enabling the Highland Council to use derelict land for various projects that could create 400 jobs.
