Graduate vacancies up 16%

The number of jobs for university leavers is set to rise by 16.4 per cent, according to a new report. The Association of Graduate Recruiters' (AGR) bi-annual survey has found salaries for graduates should rise in line with inflation, although some employers will still struggle to fill all their posts. "The findings of our 2008 survey will be encouraging for graduates entering the workforce this year, as the market appears to be as buoyant as it's been for the past five years," Carl Gilleard, chief executive told the Independent. A separate study by lenders, Abbey found that students were worried they would not be able to get onto the property ladder. It found that 42 per cent had already begun to save money to help with a deposit while only 19 per cent had put it aside to fund travel.
