IT workers want new jobs

Mon 18 Feb 2008

Half of IT workers in the UK "seriously considered" leaving their jobs last year, a study has found. A survey by Computer People has revealed 25 per cent registered with a job search consultant despite being happy with their current pay and colleagues. "It's interesting to see that so many IT workers are on the lookout for new roles, especially when you consider that the vast majority seem happy with their pay, opportunities and colleagues," said managing director, Nick Dettmar. According to the survey, 68 per cent of employees claimed to still be content with the opportunities offered at their current job. However, it revealed that 42 per cent of respondents were unhappy about the amount of unpaid overtime they worked. "It would seem that information technology employees are always on the lookout for the next big opportunity, and something that will stretch them and test their abilities," Mr Dettmar explained.
