A new web portal called CompeteFor has been launched to connect businesses with work contracts thought to be worth £6 billion, it has been reported.
Developed by the London Development Agency and launched by the London Business Network (LBN), the site gives employers the chance to bid for 75,000 contracts associated with the 2012 Olympics.
"The London Business Network, with the CompeteFor online service form part of the commitment by business to ensure that Londoners reap a share of the economic benefits which the Games will generate," said Mike Mulvey, LBN chief executive.
The portal works by matching company profiles with suitable opportunities, firms are then invited to apply and submit their bids.
The Games will bring investment into the East End of London and generate a significant amount of temporary work.
The first Olympics were held in Athens in 1896 and usually occur every four years.
