City computer workers get wages boost

London IT workers have seen their pay rise this year ahead of inflation, according to new research.
A study by CV Screen of more than 4,000 IT positions has revealed that salaries are up 4.3 per cent.
It found wages in the capital are 15 per cent greater than the rest of the south-east and more than double the annual inflation rate.
"There is obviously a premium attributed to working in London," said account manager, Alex Lawson.
"Obviously many commentators are predicting the next 12 months to be more testing but the early signs are that the IT jobs market is holding up well," he went on.
Very few jobs exist without some IT support and computer skills learnt at work are increasingly useful at home.
Courses such as the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and Computer Literacy And Information Technology (CLAIT) can help people find work in the IT industry.
