The Indian outsourcing company, TCS, is to create 350 jobs in the UK. It intends to open two data centres, one in Surrey the other in Scotland and have them working in a couple of months, Zdnet has reported. A S Lakshmi, head of UK and Ireland, said: "We already have a strong presence and are continuing to grow our capabilities to serve our customers." The company already runs a large innovation centre in Peterborough and employs 5,000 workers. Additionally, fellow Indian outsourcing firm, Infosys, has also announced plans to concentrate growth in Europe and the UK. It already predicted a 20 per cent global growth for the coming year and claimed its revenue growth for UK and Europe could reach 50 per cent. Several western firms have outsourced their call centres to Indian and Pakistan – according to the India Times "about half of the jobs being outsourced by Silicon Valley companies are coming to India".
