Employers want to read CVs that detail work-based experience and will reject those that do not, a new survey has found. A poll by CV specialist, iProfile, revealed 73 per cent of employers have knocked back applicants because their resumé was either vague or lacked actual evidence of earlier achievement. "Addressing this issue could significantly boost people's chances of getting through to the interview stage, as well as getting the salary they deserve," said CV specialist, Karl Gregory, Onrec has reported. The study found applicants often only outline their current general tasks and fail to list their personal successes. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation has advised against making false claims on a CV. Additionally, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has recommended that taking a gap year could improve people's employability. "If you can make your CV look stronger as opposed to just neutral, having just had a year off, that can only help," said spokesperson, Vanessa Robinson. |
