The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is a poor employer, a survey seen by Personnel Today has claimed. The human resources publication said a study by an employment union found less than one in ten workers would recommend the commission as a good employer. In response to the claims, an EHRC spokeswoman said: "Any new organisation going through a period of intense and challenging change will have to work very hard at maintaining staff morale." The union survey claimed less than one in six employees felt their bosses had acted quickly in response to staff complaints. The spokeswoman said the organisation had introduced regular staff meetings and forums with its chief executive, Nicola Brewer. According to a separate report, black and Asian managers still feel discrimination is a barrier to their career progression and are more dissatisfied with their careers then white and mixed-race colleagues. The Department of Work and Pensions conducted the review and suggested finding potential clients for jobs may not be the problem. "It may be more about how to change the perceptions of certain aspects of your organisation's working culture."
