Workers will be able to qualify towards a degree by gaining university accreditation through a new government backed scheme. The government has launched the Employment Based Training Accreditation (EBTA), which will help align companies to university standards. EBTA will be managed through Foundation Degree Forward (FDF) and it has 24 trained facilitators to help employers get started. "EBTA will encourage employers to recognise the importance of improving the skills of their workforce and applies the rigorous standards of university learning to their in-house provision," explained lifelong learning and education minister, Bill Rammell. The scheme will bring accreditation to those people who either could not afford to study or left school and built up years of work experience. A recent report from the Chartered Management Institute has predicted that by 2018 more people will work from home and collaborate in virtual environments.
