The government is to help 20,000 high-street accountants and solicitors understand new law changes with a leaflet campaign. Employees in the legal profession are facing a range of new measures coming into force in April as part of the Companies Act 2006. "The business world doesn't stand still and the law is changing to reflect this," said business minister, Gareth Thomas. "The Companies Act 2006 provides a real step forward in the reform and modernisation of company law." Changes to the law will create a single set of regulations, reduce the time companies have to file their accounts and remove the requirement for them to have a company secretary. Mr Thomas was positive about the changes. He said the de-regulatory measures would "make the UK an even more attractive place to invest and do business". The act is implemented by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, which promotes business growth and is a shareholder in a number of government-owned assets.
