The merger of Select Group and Randstad has created the world's second largest recruitment firm. By joining forces the company will expand to 34,000 and the newly-formed Randstad UK will employ almost 1,000 people. "I am very proud to lead our new company, and am looking forward to building for the future and shaping the business as we compete for growth and position in the UK marketplace," said Diane Martyn, former chief executive of Select Group, now leading the new Randstad UK. Online recruitment helps firms better source talent fitted to their needs, targets a wider geographical area and reduces costs. Randstad offers its clients an information service on employment marked movements and positions across HR, professional and industrial sectors. April's employment figures from the Office for National Statistics have showed the number of vacancies has increased, up 6,700 since the last quarter to 682,000.
