Employees appreciate success recognition

In difficult economic times, reward schemes for employees can be a good way of recognising success.
Although many businesses are suffering, rewards can be relatively inexpensive and give a morale boost to workers.
Sheila Sheldon, director of European operations at Michael C Fina, said: "You don't need to throw shedloads of money at it; it's more to do with the fact that you are recognising something and making someone feel valued.
"It just has to be something that makes [the employee] think 'gosh, they really do care they have bothered to recognise that I've stayed until midnight for the last two weeks to get a job done' and makes them feel valued."
According to a poll by YouGov and published by the Trades Union Congress, six million workers are not satisfied with their job and 30 per cent do not feel engaged by their employer.
The most common noted problem is that of increased workload, with 11 per cent claiming to be overburdened.
