Human Resources (HR) departments are set to benefit from a new guide to coaching.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has produced a document to help companies better understand how they can implement coaching services.

According to learning, training and development advisor John McGurk, coaching is "the ideal technique for change management, skills development and leadership in organisations".

"We know that every organisation is different and coaching needs to be tailored to the requirements of each organisation," he said.

The CIPD's latest research found 71 per cent of all firms are now using coaching as part of their training.

The Institute for Employment Studies has described it as an interactive process devised to help individuals to develop rapidly.

"The guide quite simply helps HR professionals make sense of coaching and understand how it can be used as a powerful tool to help employees perform better," Mr McGurk added.
