Nuclear union welcomes job boost

Prospect, the union representing 15,000 nuclear industry workers, has welcomed a report supporting plans for new reactors and jobs.
Its author Westinghouse UK, a manufacturer of nuclear technology, has said it will continue to work alongside UK companies all along the supply chain.
"We welcome the Westinghouse commitment to support the local economy by 'buying where we build'," said Mike Graham, Prospect national secretary for the north-west.
The nuclear industry has been boosted by recent pledges from the government to include nuclear power in its sustainable energy plans.
Mr Graham noted: "This bucks the trend at a time of economic downturn, difficult financial markets and job losses. New nuclear build will bring investment in heavy engineering, manufacturing and construction."
Workers in manufacturing and industrial jobs are often highly skilled, and experienced in specialist technical trades.
