Randstad Education - Bristol

Branch Profile

The Bristol office has been recruiting education staff at all levels across the South West since 1995 offering a uniquely personal and expert service. We were formerly known as Select Education and are an award-winning office within Randstad, having won several accolades over the years.

We are an extremely busy office, working with nine local authorities in our local area - Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, Swindon, Wiltshire, BANES, Somerset and North Somerset. Within these areas we work with over 1000 educational establishments such as primary, secondary and SEN schools, pupil referral units, private day nurseries, children’s centres and also work with various local authority departments and schemes. These establishments recruit for a wide range of roles, including teachers, instructors, lecturers, cover supervisors, teaching assistants, SEN support staff, one to one tutors and interventions specialists, nursery nurses, nursery assistants, invigilators, bursars, school administrators and caretakers.

We have very close links with the teaching training department at Bath Spa University and we sponsor an annual event for all their PGCE students. As a result many NQTs come to register with us once they have completed their final teaching placement. We are able to offer ‘Introduction to Supply’ and ‘Behaviour for Learning’ courses as well as advice and support in finding them their first teaching role.

Between them our consultants have over 50 years experience within the industry and all are experienced professionals in the education field. If you have the experience and the commitment to join the UK's number one education recruiter then one of our consultants would be happy to talk to you about vacancies available now.

Working in the Community

Randstad Education Bristol has always maintained strong links with the school communities we serve and is proud to have a reputation within the local market for being friendly and supportive. Over the years we have enjoyed giving something back to the schools that use our services through various methods. We have provided sponsorship for many school sports kits and calendars as well as running art and design competitions on issues such as racism and bullying. This has included providing gift vouchers for school competitions and purchasing prizes for end of term attendance awards.

We have successfully organised and delivered coaching workshops for permanent members of staff at various primary schools across Bristol. These have covered topics such as self belief, motivation, expectation, team work and engagement and are tailored according to the individual school needs. We have offered these free workshops to our long standing clients so that they are not only able to benefit from our knowledge and expertise but so they can also offer alternative training on their inset days.

We are proud of the rapport our consultants share with their schools and think that these close working relationships, where we work as a partner and not just a supplier, can only benefit our candidates in finding the right schools for them.

I am currently employed by Randstad Education as a supply teacher. The professionalism with which I have been treated since joining the agency has been outstanding.

From the very beginning Michelle Gubbins at Randstad Education could not do enough to help and support me with my application. Michelle did everything possible to make me feel welcome and valued.

Since joining Randstad Education I have had regular work and have enjoyed all of my placements. I would recommend Randstad Education to anyone looking for teaching supply work without reservation.
James Fox, Supply Teacher, March 2015

“I have worked for Randstad Education for 3 years, providing short and long term teaching cover in Primary schools within Bristol and the surrounding area. Randstad provide a professional service with clear expectations of my professional conduct. I know in advance what a job will entail and that my school contact will treat me with respect and in a professional manner.

All the Randstad personnel I deal with are friendly and ready to support with constructive advice. When problems have arisen regarding a booking or if there has been a query over pay, this has been dealt with quickly and efficiently and with a satisfactory outcome. I would recommend Randstad for their friendly & professional approach and for their support whenever needed.”
Richard Sandom-Brown, Primary Supply Teacher, Sept 2013

“Having left a permanent teaching post some years ago to allow time for other interests such as writing and travel, I enrolled with Select, now Randstad Education only to find that I have been teaching almost full-time since!!! However that has been my choice, as the school and college placements offered have been so varied and interesting that they have kindled anew my enthusiasm for teaching.

Through the professional but also sympathetic offices of the Randstad staff I have had the opportunity to develop a profound range of strategies teaching pupils from KS1 through to post KS4, in special education as well as mainstream. Coupled with this ongoing professional development has been the utter enjoyment of working in such varied environments. I would recommend joining Randstad for both the experienced teacher, who may be looking for a new direction and challenge, and for the newly qualified, who would certainly gain experience and benefit from the professional guidance and mentoring offered by their consultants.”
Frank Thomas, Primary, SEN & Secondary Maths Teacher, September 2013

“I just wanted to say thank you for being such a great company to supply teach with this last year- I have loved the work I have been given. One of the things I have enjoyed about supply teaching is the variety of schools I have worked in- from the small village school to a bigger inner city one. This has only served to widen my perspective and enhanced my teaching skills, gaining and sharing ideas with colleagues.

I have also been impressed with your proactive approach to getting me work close to where I live- I was told you would take my portfolio round local schools- and I very much appreciated this. Meeting supply teachers at other schools, it was widely recognised what an organised company Randstad is compared to other agencies out there and knowing there is a friendly voice on the other side of the phone working on your behalf has been very reassuring.

I have had a good year and have no hesitation in recommending Randstad to others- indeed I have on my travels! Louise, I will give you a call when my contract ends and maybe look forward to working with you all again in the future.”
Sharon Hanson, Primary School Teacher, August 2013

“I started working for Randstad in 2011 after leaving London. I knew supply teaching would be so different from my previous role where I had been for 5 years but from the word go my experience with Randstad has been positive.

In the 2 years I have been working with them I have visited a wide range of schools in varied areas and have enjoyed this diverse experience. I have also worked across all phases in primary furthering my skills and confidence to be able to take on any challenge. Randstad don't 'pigeon hole' you or restrict you to work available but they are open for you take on what you feel you can.

Working with Randstad is great as the staff get to know you and are always very welcoming to your experiences you have had in a day... Both good and not so good... And respond to this in a supportive manner.

I look forward to continuing to work with Randstad and welcome the challenge of supply teaching knowing the support and appreciation the team at Randstad provide.”
Christine Kennedy, Primary Teacher August 2013

“Thank you for the opportunities, the experience and personal development you have provided for me. I have enjoyed working for the agency and appreciate the support given.”
Lindsey French Learning Support Assistant

“I signed up to work for Randstad in late August and received a call within a few days about coming in for an interview. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful bunch at the Bristol office, during my interview Louise tried her best to get as much information as possible to find work best suited to me.

Randstad made full use of my previous background qualifications by providing me with work as a teacher, teaching assistant and nursery nurse. This ensured I always had work throughout the year, even during quieter periods for teaching in schools.

During my year in supply I worked with two agencies to ensure I had work throughout the year, but towards the Easter break I was mostly working for Randstad as they were very quick to find me work, even when my consultant Louise was not in office which was an experience I didn't have with my other agency.

My consultant Louise was very helpful all the way through my time with Randstad, she was always there to contact if I had a query or problem either by phone, email or in person. When out of office the Randstad team are always very easy to talk to and try to help you with any problems and bookings.

Towards the end of the year I did consider taking a different path in my career, Randstad took this on board and helped me decided by providing me with opportunities to work within a wide range of school settings (nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools, academy's) in a number of different roles.

I would come and work for Randstad again in the future and would recommend them to anyone interested. My advice to them would be to make sure you sign up as early as possible to ensure references and CRB's come in on time and to be as open minded about where you work as possible to get the best experience out of supply work.”
Sarah Evans, Primary Teacher and Support Worker, Sept 2013
