Are you a Rail Account Manager looking to work in the Rugby Area?

Our Client a leading Rail Contractor has an exciting Temp to Perm opportunity for a capable Rail Account manager!

Purpose of the Role

To manage the day to day relationship with our commercial clients ensuring the highest standard of customer service is consistently achieved. Ensure revenue streams are maximised by closely monitoring set sizes whilst leading the engineering planning process to minimise the effect of disruptive engineering works in a cost effective, reliable and successful manner.

Key Accountabilities -

* Safety - Actively demonstrate support for the implementation of our clients Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated with the planning and roster process including fatigue management.

* Profitability - Ensure through the optimization of staff rostering and planning that services are delivered in the most cost effective way. Any short term customer requests for additional work or opportunities for increased revenue are resourced and effectively scheduled.

* Quality - The reputation of our client is significantly influenced by the effectiveness and quality of the services we deliver and the competence and professionalism of the staff delivering and managing (real time) those services, the post holder must ensure that the right skills are allocated to deliver the service we provide.

* Respect - Treat people in a fair and consistent way. Consistently strive to understand internal and external client's needs and requirement.

Key Tasks

* Manage the day to day requirements of our clients commercial customer(s).
* Ensure Engineering Planning process ensuring disruptive engineering works and action plans have minimum disruption are communicated to customers.
* Develop customer orders on a long term and week to week basis.
* Manage the production of performance data highlighting (as a minimum) service punctuality, reliability and utilisation.
* Closely monitor all commercial traffic flows vs. budget producing data as directed.
* Instigate action plans to improve the profitability of all commercial traffic flows.
* Closely monitor all traffic flows to maximise revenue opportunities (e.g. wagon set sizes, wagon availability and locomotive performance).
* Attend customer review meetings as required.
* The above does not limit your duties and the company may require you from time to time to undertake work within your capability and competence.

Person Specification

* Possess and constantly display all of the attributes of the five E's-Energy, Energize, Edge, Execute and Engage
* Be confident when dealing with all staff planning issues with good attention to detail.
* Experience of the Network Code and parts relevant to train planning.
* A good general appreciation of train timing, diagramming & engineering planning processes.
* Have knowledge of the current requirements to manage all staff to minimize the effects of fatigue during the working week.
* Have good IT skills to be able to interrogate, update and develop where appropriate all computer based planning tools including Word & Excel used by Rail Services.
* Have a good understanding of all appropriate contract conditions which are affected or influenced by staff planning.
* Be a proven team player with a logical searching mind.


* Significant experience of managing customer accounts.
* Understanding of industry engineering planning timescales and relevant sections of The Network Code.
* Appreciation of industry train planning timescales.
* Experience of producing timely performance data.
* Good geographical knowledge of the railway network and infrastructure.
