My client is an innovative construction provider for the global mining industry. With a wealth of technical know-how and experience dating back almost 150 years through its parent companies, they are one of the world's leading specialist mining contractors. They are currently looking for an experienced Planner to work within their Project Controls team to deliver a unique mining project in the North Yorkshire Moors. In this position, they will ensure that projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with their internal standard procedures. You will work in close cooperation with project managers and project teams

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of project planning on large scale construction projects and be familiar with Primavera P6 software.

Education

Required: University degree in a related scientific, business or engineering field

Preferred:

* University degree (business or engineering) in quantity surveying, cost estimating or mining.
* Additional qualifications and/or certification(s) in project management, contract administration and key performance indicator measurement will be considered an asset.

Work Experience

Required:

* 3 Years of post-graduate field based project scheduling, estimating or controls experience related to construction projects.
* Significant experience working with Primavera P6


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* To promote good working relationships within the Project Controls Teams and other project departments and client representatives
* To carry out all works in compliance with corporate and project specific procedures
* To prepare resourced schedules for a major project ensuring the items within this description are covered:
* To code activities and apply logic links to enable schedule time analysis.
* To baseline Schedule once agreed, with the Project Management Team.
* To review baseline dates versus actual dates in the plan.
* To monitor and report planned / actual / and earned man hours.
* To monitor and report planned and actual progress.
* To liaise with Engineering / Construction Disciplines to ensure accuracy of progress and forecast dates.
* Attend planning review meetings as appropriate.
* To liaise with the project team and planners to resolve conflicts.
* To ensure the requisite quality of data is maintained.
* To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated plans and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
* To report risks/changes against schedules to the Project Lead, Planning Engineer, Project Engineer and Construction Engineer in a timely and concise manner.
* To supervise, guide and advise the less experienced members of the planning team on planning issues.
* To check all reports (Including S-Curves, Histograms, Tabular Reports and Schedules)
* Where appropriate to carry out Personal Development Reviews for relevant staff members.
* To interface on a daily basis with the Projects Controls Team.
* Maintain confidentiality with respect to client information
* Safety sensitive: having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment; following Company health and safety standards.

This position will be based across our Scarborough and Whitby offices. As such, candidates must be willing to travel to either location as is required by the demands of the project.
