An Electrical Engineer is required on a Contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.

The IPSD Power Generation Core Engineering Group is responsible for the development of all standard retail generator sets <750 kVA. This includes new product development, current product improvements and the investigation & resolution of product quality issues.

The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Supervisor and will primarily carry out New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering functions. Key responsibilities will be to participate in developing the concept and design of complex electrical engineering product ensuring products provide superior performance, best cost, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Key Responsibilities:

* Development of new products and components
* Act as electrical design lead on NPI projects
* Processing of engineering drawings & data in line with company procedures & systems
* Performing complex analysis work, identifying and resolving design problems
* Providing technical guidance on product and processes
* Communicating technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other departments in a concise and accurate manner
* Providing technical support during product validation
* Keeping up to date on new technologies and / or developing new technologies
* Providing technical and general guidance to other engineers as required

Essential Criteria

* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and substantial relevant experience

OR

* Candidates with a lesser qualification in Electrical Engineering should have significantly more relevant experience

N.B. Relevant experience should include:

* Experience of working in a design/development environment
* Experience of creating and interpreting engineering drawings and electrical schematics
* Experience of using a 2d/3d design package

Desirable Criteria:

* Experience of complex electrical system integration
* Experience of enclosure / package design for electrical components
* Experience of working in a generating set or engine test environment
* Experience of leading projects
* Working knowledge of generator & related control systems
* Experience of PTC Creo (Formerly ProEngineer) especially the Harness and Schematics extensions
* Excellent communication skills
