We are recruiting on behalf of well established and privately owned general building company who are recruiting for a Buyer to work as part of the Procurement team at their Head Office in Luton, Bedfordshire.

The Company

A successful and family owned company who specialise in new build and refurbishment projects from £500k to £1M. The Company provide construction services to a wide range of repeat business clients in the commercial, leisure and education sectors.

The Opportunity

The Buyer will replace the existing team member who is moving on to a new role in the business. Your role will be to support the site teams by ensuring materials and plant are provided to the specification and programme for the job.

Duties will include:

· Support and liaise with the site teams to ensure they have the right plant and materials

· Raising Purchase Orders

· Organise deliveries

· Liaise and build relationships with suppliers

· Organise prices for tenders and investigate alternatives

· Negotiate with suppliers

The Person

To be successful as interview, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

* That you have good product knowledge of construction materials
* Have 5 years + experience in a buying role
* Experience of liaising with internal and external customers
* You will have good administration and organisation skills relating to raising Purchase Orders and organising deliveries
* Good negotiation and relationship building skills
* Experience of material scheduling would be an advantage but not essential
* The ability to organise prices for tenders and investigate alternatives
