The Role

* Assisting the nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop the children in your care.
* To work within and maintain the context of the whole nursery team.
* Supervising of staff and students in training and maintaining a proactive and professional team.
* Ensuring that all daily routines are adhered to and records kept up to date.
* Maintaining of staffing levels and arranging cover when needed.
* Planning and carrying out of activities in like with the EYFS.
* Ensuring that assessments and evaluations of children are regularly completed.
* Ensuring that children get the best start in life by working in close partnership with parents and carers to develop independence, confidence and self esteem.
* Supporting staff development and working closely with other staff and professionals.
* Conducting 1:1s and annual staff development and performance reviews.
* Communicating with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
* Oversee an effective key worker system.
* Liaising with other room leaders to provide a smooth transition for children.
* Undertake monthly staff meetings outside normal working hours where necessary.

The Skills

* Relevant qualification in childcare/ early years (NNEB/ CACHE level 3, BA Childhood studies, Early years education.
* Recent experience of working with children aged 0-5.
* Preferable experience of being a Room Leader or leadership position.
* Ability to plan and deliver effective activities to children.
* The ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Sound knowledge of EYFS and how to apply this.
