Are you a highly motivated qualified Joiner/Carpenter? Do you have excellent problem solving skills and a logical approach? Can you provide a high quality joinery service Comprising a range of properties from historic and listed buildings, through to the more modern structures of today.

You will be a qualified Joiner/Carpenter with experience of working on-site, preferably within a large and complex environment. You will have a flexible approach to ensure the service being delivered is efficient and effective to meet the needs of a wide portfolio of clients. You will join our Maintenance team which is dedicated to providing a wide range of support services connected with the effective management, development and maintenance of the site

You will be part of the Joinery team, delivering reactive and planned maintenance across the site. You will have successfully completed a recognised Joinery/Carpentry qualification and apprenticeship and have on-site experience. You will be able to work unsupervised, and on your own initiative, within a large and complex organisation, whilst maintaining a safe working environment for all our staff and visitors.

What does the role entail?

As a Joiner/ Carpenter, your main duties will include:

* Carrying out a wide range of joinery activities, including general repairs to building fabric elements such as doors, windows and sashes, partitions, floors, roofs and structures;
* Undertaking PPM inspections, maintenance & repair works of fire door sets inspecting and carry out fire stopping;
* Replacement/repairs to associated ironmongery items including the installation and/or replacement of mechanical locks (Training can be given if required)
* Operating woodwork machinery including circular and band saw, surface and thickness planer, mortice and spindle moulder;
* Measuring, setting out and manufacturing purpose made joinery items;
* Erecting and using independent access scaffolding systems and working at height off fixed or mobile scaffolds;
* Undertaking training as and when required or as directed by the management team;
* Driving of company vehicles when required in order to transfer materials and/or tools across the estate.

What will you bring to the role?

As a Joiner you will have:

* A recognised Joinery or Carpentry trade qualification (NVQ level3/City and Guilds or equivalent trade certificate)
* Successfully completed a Joinery or Carpentry apprenticeship;
* A full, current, valid Driving Licence;
* Experience of working with a variety of materials, tools & machinery;
* An awareness of Health and Safety regulations (including asbestos awareness) with the ability to comply with organisational safety requirements and take a responsible approach to managing, mitigating and avoiding risk;
* A high level of competence and attention to detail, with experience of working in a large and complex organisation successfully delivering a broad range of joinery reactive and planned maintenance activities;
* Excellent customer care skills with a positive attitude and a commitment to providing a first class maintenance service to end users;
* Excellent problem solving skills, with experience of using your own initiative to assess, diagnose and apply appropriate solutions to problems;
* The ability to adjust to different conditions, technologies, situations and environments;
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as an effective team member;
* A commitment to demonstrate behaviours in line with the company values.
