ROLE SUMMARY

Capital, Impairment and Stress Testing is an area of increasing importance across RBWM due to impact on the P&L, RWA and increasing external scrutiny on both BAU practices and the use of stress testing for risk management. The Analytics Programmes methodology team covers all three of these disciplines, globally. Modelling methodologies will need to continually evolve with the dual objective of meeting expectations and increase speed to delivery through greater standardisation and simplification.
The Analytics Programmes Methodology, Standards and MRM team sits within Global RBWM Risk and its responsibilities include developing modelling methodologies, calculation approaches and model risk management including oversight of the development of models and developing modelling best practices at a Global level, and providing intelligent analysis to understand impacts across RBWM.
This role will focus on Analytics Programmes methodology maintenance, development and defence for retail portfolios globally. The role covers model methodology, associated processes and the implementation of the methodology in a globally consistent manner.
The successful candidate will provide expert guidance for various stakeholders in Group and Regions to ensure socialization of methodology related topics in clear and concise manners to audiences with varying levels of modelling expertise. They will be identifying and leading modelling initiatives to develop new approaches to meet new regulatory requirements and to drive global consistency and efficiency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Impact on Business

Manage staff and/or external consultants in the design, development and/or implementation of statistical models to implement the IFRS9 accounting guidance.
Manage credit risk management assignments and projects with resources from within the team as well as the wider time. Ensure effective, efficient and compliant results.

Customers / Stakeholders

Collaborate with counterparts in other locations and regions to drive the methodology and implementation agenda.
Provide technical/analytical support to regional analytics teams to support impairment analytics, sensitivities and calibration of overlays.
Develop consistent methodology documents and policies to support a globally consistent approach.
Conduct model reviews to ensure models are developed consistently with agreed global methodology, act as an SME during the peer review sessions.
Partner with other teams as Accounting, Modeling, Stress testing etc. on key methodology decisions

Leadership & Teamwork

Provide thought leadership on methodology and analytics to various stakeholders.
Design and coordination of modelling initiatives across multiple teams to develop consistent approaches ensuring clear goals and outcomes are communicated
Work together with global/regional modelling teams to ensure that modelling initiatives are executed effectively

Major Challenges

Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time within stringent deadlines and with minimum supervision.
The position needs to follow company policies and any deviation from policy must be escalated to their manager for notification and approval
Requires advanced knowledge of business practices, business methods and business systems utilized to ensure data is interpreted properly.
Partnership across multiple geographies and levels of organization
Complex technical concepts needs to be distilled into straightforward, intuitive messages to ensure wide communication and buy-in of approach

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate shall have a proven track record in credit modeling/analytics and/or credit risk management experience, or equivalent.
Knowledge and understanding of financial services in a retail context.
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, related field or equivalent experience;
Strong management, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, project management and verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of segmentation, score card development, loss forecasting and provision modeling preferred
Experience of stress testing preferred
Exposure to GAAP/IFRS provision accounting standards is an added advantage
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages.
Strong programming skills to include knowledge of statistical programs (i.e. SAS, SAP) and/or advanced database programs.
