Assistant Technical / Design manager

My client is an excellent regional contractor with work in both Hampshire and Dorset currently. They work within the residential and care sectors predominantly and require an assistant design manager to join the pre construction team based near Romsey.

My client are a privately owned regional business with a very strong reputation locally and a secure pipeline of work for 2019 and 2020. They have a turnover circa £40m per annum and continue to grow.

You will work closely with a senior design manager / technical manager and a detailed overview is below;

The role will cover all aspects of design from grass roots to handover with daily functions to include a range of activities such as:

* Liaise with all external and internal stakeholders
* Co-ordinate technical, design and external client issues for the construction team.
* Manage document control for the team, RFI schedules and tracking documents
* Manage and coordinate quality assurance
* Technical circulars & update colleagues on the changes to Buildings Regs, Code, SBD etc.
* Attend sub-contractor meetings
* Assist with the appointment of external consultant teams
* Attend and produce meeting minutes
* Oversee applications and coordinate with BREEAM consultants
* Assist design team members on a variety of projects in residential and care sectors


We are looking for an assistant who is full of energy, bright ideas and an eagerness to learn. Our construction team is seeing a lot of growth currently and we need employees who enjoy change and a fast-paced environment.

A couple of years design experience or work experience/placement are preferred, and a good standard of written and verbal communication skills required.
