A mixed gender public secondary school for ages 11-16 is seeking a history teacher to teach until the end of the academic year. The school is currently going through some exciting changes having appointed a new head with a proven track record to move the school further forward in their move to achieve an 'outstanding' rating. The school is within a mile of the most local train station which is on the London to Brighton mainline. It is easily accessible by car being close to the A27 and A23.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Preparing lessons in line with the curriculum for history
* Examples of modules included in the subject are Britain and the First World War, USA 1919-1941 are Russia/USSR 1905-1941.
* Adaptability to ensure students are challenged depending on their varying needs
* Setting challenging homework to aid evaluation of the quality of the lesson
* Marking and providing clear and concise feedback on completed work
* Effective management of classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere
* Ensuring and assessing the safety and safeguarding of children

Key requirements for the position include:

* DBS - In date, with no reprimands which prohibits the successful candidate from working with children
* Relevant qualifications - a degree along with relevant teaching qualifications (ie PGCE)
* QTS is desirable - NQT applications are warmly welcomed
* Experience of teaching history is essential
* Strong commitment and a positive attitude to the role and objectives
