Managing Quantity Surveyor

Permanent Opportunity -Kent

Are you a Managing Quantity Surveyor looking to join an established and successful business? Do you enjoy working on a variety of projects?

The Client: Main contractor who has recently celebrated 25 years of success within the Construction market. This contractor has a number of office over the UK with approximately 150 employees and a finical turnover of approximately £200 mil.

Projects consist of student accommodation, commercial, retail and refurbishment ranging from £500k to £30million.

Position: Seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor who will be based from the office in Kent and visiting sites when required. You will be reporting to the Commercial Manager and will be responsible for 2-3 projects and managing a team of Surveyors. Duties include:

Managing a team of QS' across multiple projects.

* Be responsible for initiating and leading tasks/processes
* Be responsible for planning and managing own work, and that of other commercial team members
* Ensure that the contractor's commercial position is protected using in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes
* Liaise with the client, PQS and Senior staff
* You are expected to manage and provide development/support to other commercial team members
* Reporting to the Commercial Manager
* Estimate from first principal
* Move into a Commercial Management role and manage a team of QS'

Requirements

* Previous experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor
* Capable and proven history of managing a team of Surveyors
* Project experience in Commercial, Leisure or student accommodation is preferable but not a necessity
* HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is desirable but not a necessity
* Highly Organised
* Good negotiation skills
