Do you want to work in a specialist primary school with an experienced staff team who will
support and guide you within the classroom setting with the aim to enable you to work
independently?
Do you have experience in supporting children or adults with additional or complex needs?

We are looking for an experienced teaching assistant who is passionate about helping pupils
increase their knowledge and giving them a positive learning experience. You should have a
passion for providing the best learning opportunities for all pupils and create a love of
learning in the pupils through enjoyment and reinforcing understanding. You will be
assisting pupils between the ages of 2 and 11 who have an Educational Health Care Plan in a
purpose built primary school in Salford. The pupils may have severe learning difficulties
(SLD), multiple learning difficulties (MLD) or profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
Some pupils may need assistance with their personal care needs (e.g. feeding, toileting and
changing).

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
 Supporting the teacher in lessons and classroom management
 Assisting the pupils with personal care
 Working with the teacher to create a positive learning environment

 Helping to deliver engaging lessons to pupils
 Providing group or one-to-one support to pupils
 To attend and participate in relevant meetings and training as appropriate
 To undertake any other additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

Requirements for this role are:
 A DBS on the update service
 Experience working with children or with adults with additional needs in a care or
education environment
 Be committed to supporting children to realise and reach their full potential
 To support the pupils by understanding their individualised education programme
(IEP), their level of progress and their communication systems (e.g. PECS / Signalong
/ Objects of Reference/Symbols)
 Be pro-active with the ability to act on your own initiative
