School Development Professional

Required: January or August 2020

Location: Nassau, Bahamas

Salary: Competitive for region.

Contract: 1 year renewable

School Ethos/Vision: Founded in 1962, this independent, non-denominational day school, catering for pupils from Pre-K - Grade 12, is currently seeking a French teacher to join their team. The school offers a high standard International Baccalaureate programme and has transformed from a small, community school into an innovative and strong educational facility. With a student body of 385 students, admitted on a non-selective basis, boasting a mix of over 41 pupil nationalities make this one of the leading IB schools in the region.

Nassau, once home to 18th century pirates (including Blackbeard) and confederate smugglers, is now a thriving tourist hot spot in the island nation of the Bahamas. Away from the cruise ship terminal, bustling Bay Street and the immense Atlantis resort, life goes forward at a much more sedate pace. This tropical island is home to white sandy beaches and the sort of blue waters that you see on the covers of glossy travel magazines. The warm, sheltered sea hides thriving coral reefs and is a snorkeler's paradise. Old world and colonial architecture dominate with crumbling forts crying out to be explored if you're not too busy soaking up the sun. For dining, be sure to try out the national dish, conch, which is served in chowder, salad or fritters, and then wash it all down with some quality, local rum.

Requirements:

* The school is looking to open a new campus and is looking for an advancement/development/fundraising professional to run this.
* Must enjoy a challenge and have some previous experience with with development.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is extremely competitive for the region starting from $30,000 for teachers (sliding scale based on experience), annual flights, settling in and generous housing allowance (first and last month's rent is advanced by the school).
