We are currently looking for an Assistant Buyer to join part of an exciting international group dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of metal automotive components in Lllanelli. They will also consider an entry level candidate or recent graduate with a minimum HNC level in business or engineering discipline who is keen to learn and make a difference to the company.

Assistant Buyer UK - Llanelli

Responsible To Hours - Contractual hours expected for role.

Lead Buyer Llanelli (8am-4.30pm mon-thur, 1pm finish Fri)

Responsible For - General outline of the role.

Procurement of materials to support the production plants and new project introduction requirements along with completion of general administrative tasks as required within the Purchase function. The role may involve support of all plants within UK and co-ordination with corporate purchase.

Key Requirements:

* To be qualified to a minimum HNC level in business or engineering discipline.
* Studying toward CIPS or a desire to complete full accreditation to MCIPS or equivalent Purchase Degree qualification.
* Full Driving Licence
* Passport as some travel may be required.

Aptitude - Key abilities to be demonstrated that cannot be seen through qualifications and / or experience.

* Verbal Reasoning
* Calculation
* Data Analysis

Tacit Knowledge / Experience

* Previous experience/understanding of negotiation.
* Previous experience of manufacutring environment.
* Previous experience of working within an office environement and can demonstrate professional manner in communication.
* For engineering qualified applicants understanding experience of engineering disaplines.

To be qualified to a minimum HNC level in business or engineering discipline.

Studying toward a qualification in procurement (MCIPS or similar) is desirable.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities; Regular duties / activities associated with the role.

* Ensuring materials are purchased at the most cost effective price and most cost effective way
* Monthly monitoring of suppliers performance and co-ordinating associated progress activities
* Working together with other departments within business a daily basis ensuring purchase process is followed.
* General system/departmental administration support to ensure system accuracy, purchase order issue and supplier data is maintained.
* Maintenance and contribution toward the approved supplier's list.
* Maintain conformance to IATF working procedures
* Support project teams where new projects are being introduced ensuring spares are secured at the lowest total cost and are in line with project timing
* Capable of working autonomously with objectives being set by the Lead Buyer or wider Purchase management structure.
* Monitoring of cost throughout projects identifying and tracking cost drivers
* Capable of cascading targets and objectives to sub-suppliers and ensuring targets and objectives are achieved
* Support Cost down projects and purchase requirements for all Gestamp UK sites including working in cross functional teams if required
* Work within project teams developing and adhering to project timing requirements
* Ensure compliance to Gestamp Purchasing Guidelines and systems
* General computer literacy with a working knowledge of all relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
