I am currently looking for Assistive Technology Trainers to work with Students at North Lindsey College.

As an Assistive Technology Trainer, you will provide training in assistive technology (software and hardware) to disabled people and those with specific learning difficulties (including dyslexia, AD(H)D, Asperger's, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia). Following an initial consultation with the end user, training will be delivered according to their individual needs so as to fully benefit from the technology provided.

The role is to start September 2018.

Responsibilities



* Undertake initial short assessment in order to establish specific requirements of the individual appropriate to their disability and environment.
* Train Student on how to use specific software or hardware recommended in referral according to the individual's specific requirements
* Ability to learn new assistive software and hardware as required
* Attend any relevant training or meetings and have the ability to develop existing skills
* Always be punctual with a flexible approach to working hours is required
* Maintain a high standard of presentation whilst representing Randstad
* Confidentiality should be respected to agreed disclosure levels
* Inform Randstad of any problems you are having that are either work related or affect your work, we can then help you come to a satisfactory conclusion or adapt your work to support your situation

Requirements



* Experience in teaching or training computer software and hardware
* Experience in teaching or training computer software and hardware in the educational setting on a 1:1 basis or with small groups
* Experience of working with disabled people or people with specific learning differences
* Experience in teaching or training on assistive software and hardware eg: Inspiration, Mind Manager Pro, Dragon Naturally Speaking, textHELP Read & Write, typing tutors, various dictionaries, Dolphin, Zoomtext, JAWS, Claroread. Digital voice recorders, scanning pens, personal organisers, electronic dictionaries, Alphasmart. Also MS Office suite.
* Able to assess learner's needs and devise an appropriate Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
* Excellent communication skills
* Deliver training to suit learner's individual needs
* Able to learn new assistive software and hardware
* Confidence in working independently with learners
* Takes a logical approach to problem-solving and pays close attention to detail
* Applies quality standards to all tasks undertaken and ensures that nothing is overlooked.
