I'm currently looking for an individual to start at a specialist setting for pupils with additional needs including SEMH, ASD, Complex Needs. The site is based in Wakefield and they are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, on a full time basis, to join their fantastic team of staff. You would become an integral part of the setting, and make a real positive impact on the education and lives of the Children you support. Requirements
* Previous experience working with or supporting individuals who have special educational or complex needs and consequently extremely strong knowledge and understanding of how to best support and assist children who have special educational needs.
* Enhanced DBS Check (we can assist in your application)
* Strictly adhere to safeguarding policies, ensuring issues of concern are dealt with in line with the settings guidance
* Dedication to your work and a passion for the support and care you provide
* A resilient nature
Responsibilities
* Supporting children with a variety of complex needs
* Displaying patience and understanding
* Developing a rapport with students and finding the best way to communicate 1:1,so that you have a clear understanding of the specific needs of the pupils you are working with
* Depending on your ability and previous experience, providing personal self care
* To look after children's physical, emotional, mental and social welfare
* To recognising signs of distress in children, offering reassurance and de-escalating the situation
* Knowledge and experience using de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
