Bid Manager

Location: Cardiff, South Wales

* The Bid Manager is accountable to the Commercial Director - Pre-Construction for successfully delivering a fully complete tender within agreed timescales, budgets and specifications ensuring that project cost estimates are in accordance with the design/specification intent and that risk is managed and costed effectively to deliver profit targets.
* The Bid Manager is responsible for ensuring an excellent Customer experience is reflected in Customer satisfaction surveys and effective collaborative working is achieved between the Construction and Commercial Teams in order to provide coherent solutions to the Customer.
* The Bid Manager will provide support and leadership to their Pre-Construction team in ensuring Colleagues fully embrace the Company Purpose and Values.
* Formulate and agree bid & win strategies with senior management to secure profitable orders
* Oversee and lead the preparation, coordination and delivery of presentations to customers as required, to successfully communicate our proposals
* Set and manage the expectation of the team to deliver fully designed/coordinated and priced information to Construction status to enable Construction to procure and build a project.
* Ensure that projects meet deadlines and targets and manage design and estimating resource to ensure project delivery in line with Customer and Company objectives/timescales.
* Effectively communicate the role of Pre-Construction, setting clear expectations as to the outputs that will be generated.
* Leads the Customer through the all stages of the Pre-Construction process to successful hand-over to Construction, delivering an excellent Customer experience. RIBA Stages 1-4.
* Ensure that Tender launch meetings are undertaken and relevant information is understood prior to projects being Ensure that the Customers brief is captured and understood by the full team and is regularly reviewed
* Ensure that specification requirements are established and understood. agree outputs, accountabilities, project milestones, communication and success criteria for projects, and that these aspects are effectively managed through Pre-Construction and communicated to other stakeholders.
* Ensure that regular contact with Customers is maintained both formally and informally during the Pre-construction process.
* Ensure that Customer queries/issues are responded to in a timely manner.
* Supports the Commercial Director - Pre-Construction as a key senior contact for Customers throughout the Pre-Construction process.


* Proven project management skill with experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
* Exemplary customer management skills.
* Experience of multiple project management at a senior level in a design related discipline.
* Excellent planning and programming skills.
* Working knowledge of JCT design & build contracts.
* Working knowledge of Health Safety & Environmental legislation.
* Commitment to customer satisfaction through achievement of quality.
* Ability to lead the design development process within project parameters, ensuring Buildability.
* Experience of partnering relationships: customer and supply chain collaboration.
* Experience of cost control and cost planning.
* CSCS card registration.
