The Company

As a main contractor, they have projects across the country, and have an annual turnover of £50 million. They currently have multiple projects throughout the South East with one of their live jobs being in Maidstone, Kent. As they are a well recognised company, they consistently deliver quality projects and therefore have a requirement to grow and hire a Buyer who can add value to their team. With extensive knowledge of the construction industry, they are continuously working with clients and professional teams to ensure they receive the best value for money.

The Role

As a Buyer on this project, you will be based in their Head Office in central Kent and be responsible for supporting the commercial input - reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager. You will be responsible for delivering high level estimating services in order to maximise their services, to generate new business opportunities in line with the Business Plan.

Key Responsibilities

* Liaising with sub-contractors
* Ordering relevant materials, signs, office equipment etc.
* Reviewing procurement schedules with senior team members
* Negotiating costs with various parties
* Drawing up contracts
* Responsible for work package change control and management
* Responsible for project re-measure

About you

* Extensive procurement experience
* Civil Engineering background
* Excellent IT and maths skills are essential
* Attention to detail
* Excellent report writing and negotiation skills are essential
