We are currently recruiting for a School Catering Assistant to work on a solo basis in the Torbay area for one of our Special Educational needs schools.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

- A Friendly and approachable manner
- Previous experience of working in a kitchen which can be fully referenced
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene or other relevant qualification
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A strong work ethic and a professional attitude
- Have a DBS and be on the update service (If necessary we can assist you with this)

The role is term-time only and consists of part-time hours around dinner breaks from 11am to 2.30pm. The role is temporary in the first instance with the View to go permanent.
Responsibilities could include:

- Preparation of the kitchen and dining areas, keeping them hygienic and tidy, helping to minimise risk of accidents and waste
- Basic food preparation and simple cooking - Assisting the chefs / Head Cook / catering or kitchen management as directed
- Serving children and school staff
- Pot washing and cleaning floors and surfaces after lunchtime has finished
- Correct and safe storage of all kitchen items
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation at all times such as the Food Safety Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act
