here’s our practical tips to help avoid catching (and spreading) germs.

six simple steps

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze and put used tissues in the bin immediately
  • wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
  • avoid shaking hands, kissing or hugging.
  • think about whether you need to travel to meet people - can you use a Google Meet session instead?

furlough job retention scheme.

candidate FAQs

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, more commonly known as the ‘furlough retention scheme’ is a temporary scheme open to all UK employers for at least three months starting from 1 March 2020.

At Randstad, our priority remains working closely with our clients and candidates to explore scheme implementation, to ensure everyone is given as much clarity as possible.

Please be aware that there are some areas that require further clarity. We are working with key industry bodies and our clients to do as much as we can, as accurately as we can, as quickly as we can. We will keep you informed and update this page with any changes, as they develop.

Below, we’ve set out some of the most common questions being asked, for your information.

coronavirus policy and contingency plan.

Now is the time to prepare for an outbreak at work. If you’re an employer, here are some things you need to be thinking about right now. Coronavirus contingency planning is very important and it’s helpful to get a Coronavirus action plan in place in advance of an emergency.

  • Do your employees know the symptoms and how to protect themselves?
  • Have you shared a communication plan should a member of staff become ill?
  • Are details of your health & safety policy up-to-date?
  • Do you need to put any travel restrictions in place?
  • Do you have a protocol for a site closure and deep clean scenario?
  • Do your employees know their rights?
  • What risks are there to your business if a number of your employees are unwell?
  • Can your employees work from home?
  • Have you got any events, especially with international guests, you need to consider postponing?
  • How will you communicate at speed in an emergency?
  • Have you got a recruitment partner in place should you need to hire temporary staff?
