job description

Do you love working with children and have the ability to engage young minds?

Would you be suited to managing classrooms of a range of children with varying educational abilities and needs?

Perhaps you are a strong teaching assistant or coach who would like to develop your skills further working within schools.

Join us at our office in Crawley for a free training course to equip you with the skills, mind set and professional experience needed to work as a Cover Supervisor. The initial classroom based workshop will be delivered at our Education office in Crawley which is just a 3 minutes walk from the train and bus station and is just off the M23 so is easily accessible by car too. The remaining 1-3 days will be within one of our partner schools near you!

Cover Supervisors deliver pre-set work, which absent teachers have sent in order that their classes will continue to learn and be productive throughout the school day.

The course will cover the following topics:

* The Cover Supervisor role and responsibilities
* What a Cover Supervision day looks like
* Safeguarding children
* Special educational needs and disabilities
* Classroom management and recognising behaviour issues
* Work experience - To complete the course you will be placed within a local school for up to 3 days to put your learning into practice which will enable you to acquire the references needed to gain employment.

Pre-requisites for the course include:

* The ability to think on your feet and demonstrate adaptability - sometimes you may experience challenges such last minute room changes and poor or insufficient work set by the regular teacher
* The willingness and ability to work within a team - this includes effective communication with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the school
* A strong and well rounded education - you're not expected to know everything about everything but you will be asked to cover subjects you're not overly familiar with at times

Following the completion of the course you will possess the following:

* Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to keep pupils on task and ensuring a constructive working environment
* The ability to explain, supervise and respond to any questions from pupils about work that has been set, regardless of subject
* Awareness of how systems, policies and procedures vary from school to school and to work inside the guidelines, for sanctions, behaviour, delivery of work etc.

The next date for training in the Crawley branch will be Tuesday 18th October 2018 though other dates may become available.

Please do still get in touch if you're interested in this free course but can't make this date by calling Dale Wyatt on 01293 527 416 or emailing dale.wyatt@randstadeducation.co.uk
