job description

I am hiring a customer service officer based in Stockton.

The working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The pay rate is £10 per hour. .

Duties of the role include:



* Dealing with Taxation enquiries will include banding queries, billing, collection and enforcement of Council Tax and Business Rates, discounts and exemptions.
* To respond to customer enquiries and requests for service, made in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter, across a range of Council services.


* To take any necessary action to ensure that enquiries are dealt with efficiently and appropriately, against agreed performance targets, and that as many as possible are resolved at the first point of contact to the satisfaction of the customer.
* To resolve problems and issues of customer dissatisfaction, where necessary escalating to more senior members of staff or other services.
* Be able to deal with Housing Benefits enquiries which will include providing help and advice in respect of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims and the provision of digital support for the application of Universal Credit.

Requirements of the role include:



* Previous experience in Taxation and/or Housing Benefit is essential.
* Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently.
* General IT/keyboard/telephone skills.
* Ability to record and process data accurately.
* Strong knowledge of finance and taxation.
