Our client, a global media and technology giant based in Canary Wharf is looking for a Data Protection Officer who will be responsible for ensuring their business is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), fostering a strong culture of adherence to data privacy.

This is an exciting opportunity reporting directly to senior management - the Data Protection Officer will be the business leader in driving compliance, monitoring adherence and standards while acting as the main point for contact with supervisory authorities, internal teams and data subjects for the EU.

This role will also create policies that enforce compliance with legislation and deliver GDPR trainings to staff to increase awareness of data protection measures.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent will have an in-depth knowledge of GDPR and local data protection laws. Demonstrating familiarity with our industry and the nature of its data processing activities ultimately the DPO will facilitate GDPR compliance through transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures promoting best practices across our business.

(Fluency in French or German would be advantageous, but not required)

Key duties and responsibilities include:

*Act as point of contact with EU residents, supervisory authorities and internal teams
*Identify and evaluate the company's data processing activities, providing advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
*Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
*Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels
*Maintain records of processing operations and ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes
*Write and update detailed guides on data protection policies
*Perform audits and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations
*Drawn on knowledge and experience to offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches
*Collaborate and partner with various Subject Matter Experts across the company, our partners, and customers to ensure compliance with GDPR
*Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance

Essential Skills and Requirements:

*Expert knowledge in national data protection laws and legal compliance with particularly solid experience with GDPR
*Familiarity with Information and Cyber security risks and information security standards
*Highly professional with ability to handle confidential information, remain impartial and report all non-compliances
*Strong communication skills with ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholder including senior management
*Exceptional Organizational skills with attention to detail
*Knowledge of data processing operations within technology sector (preferable)
*Relevant Privacy Qualifications
*Fluency in French or German would be advantageous
