Database Developer

Job Description
The aim of the role is to manage our ongoing database builds ensuring integrity and accuracy at all times to ensure we are delivering effectively and efficiently, in line with both the client brief and our service level agreements.
There will be an element of design and development in both Microsoft SQL Server and Marketing data and multi-channel campaign management platforms.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, build and implement technical database solutions through a number of tools including the Microsoft Development Stack and Apteco FastStats.
* Integrate our solutions with other marketing technologies such as email broadcasters, CRM systems and websites.
* Manage and transform data using industry leading tools
* Understand databases to challenge and enhance at every available opportunity.
* Ensure updates of databases are completed successfully before its release.
* Provide management information reports to ensure accuracy and visibility of all database refreshes.
* To own our chosen campaign management and data visualisation platform - Apteco FastStats, throughout the development and operational life cycles.
* To optimise the tools for use within ours and our client's organisations.
* Undertake ad hoc reporting and analysis to support other functions in understanding the data within the databases.
* Ensure work is carried out effectively and efficiently following all process.
* Maintain high programming standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying work process improvements; implementing new technology.
* Provide advice and assistance to clients, as applicable, on database solutions and best practice.
* Provide internal support to all database users and assist with troubleshooting.
* Providing documentation to all users of the databases including data dictionaries.
* Work closely with line manager to ensure and document standard operating processes that support data quality and production efficiency.
* Continuously seek to identify ways in which to improve the service and current practice, putting suggestions forward to line manager.
* Coach and mentor other team members, sharing knowledge and establishing a framework for on-going database management.

What you will bring

* Have substantial experience in building, designing and administrating systems and technical solutions using Apteco FastStats (or equivalent, e.g. Adobe Campaign, Unica or Alterian SDL).
* Have strong Microsoft SQL server skills in a previous back end database development or database systems programming role.
* Have an aptitude for accurately manipulating large amounts of data, which in turn requires lengthy periods of concentration, a high level of attention to detail, and a passion for organisation and accuracy.
* Solve problems easily by taking ownership for delivering solutions, using feedback.
* Consistently deliver high quality technical solutions and have a good understanding of underlying database structures.
* Have previous experience of marketing data services and data preparation including understanding databases, data patterns and structures.
* Be able to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, both written and verbal whilst thinking logically.
* Work as a team player, willing to contribute in areas outside the job description when appropriate.
* Be interested in working closely with other functions.
* The successful candidate could potentially have additional experience with system integration's including email platforms, data management platforms (DMP) or other CRM systems.
