Deputy Head of Elementary

Required: August 2019

Location: Shanghai, China

Experience: Must have previous relevant leadership experience

Sponsorship: Single or married teaching couples

Salary: Top salary and package dependent upon experience.

Contract: 3 Years

School vision/Ethos:

This is a new school part of a world renowned family of top British international schools and opened to much fanfare in August 2017 where it exceeded all expectations in student numbers and currently has 340 students in its premier year.

This is an international school for Chinese nationals opened in 2017 very successfully and offering a top quality education for students from Grade 1 up to (eventually) Grade 12 (IBDP level) with a potential to accommodate up to 1200 students. Initially the school is open to Middle school level. The school follows an enhanced Chinese and International curriculum developed by Chinese and international education experts and aim to prepare students for the 21st century world

The Deputy head works in close collaboration with the Head of Elementary in ensuring high quality learning and teaching throughout the school. The Deputy Head provides professional and dynamic leadership and effective management and values the importance of developing positive and caring relationships with students, parents and all school staff. He/she supports the school's inspiring, holistic vision of education and is responsible, with the school leadership team, for curriculum development, teaching and assessment practices, high academic achievement and the engagement and wellbeing of our students and staff.


* Minimum two years experience with inquiry based curriculum
* Demonstrated success in working with Elementary school students
* Demonstrated success in a school leadership role - previous leadership experience is essential
* A strong understanding of progressive pedagogy
* Adaptable to varying contexts and an enthusiasm for working with Chinese colleagues and parents
* Experience in working with EAL/ELL students
* Masters degree or internationally recognised leadership qualification is desirable
* Any proficiency in Mandarin speaking is welcomed but not essential
