A new Design Manager role has just landed in Maidstone, Kent. Are closing out a contract and looking for something new?



* Location: Maidstone, Kent
* Contract Type: Freelance
* Start date: January/February 2019
* Duration: 6-12 months+ (contract extension available)
* Rate / Salary: £350-£450 per day dependant upon experience

The Brief:

We are working with one of the UK's largest contractors who work across most sectors of the industry with project values ranging from £5 million - £1 billion. Due to a large increase in contracts awarded and invitations to tender across Kent and Sussex the need has arisen to recruit for a Design Manager with immediate effect to work on a planning submissions for new build and refurbishment schemes across education, commercial and industrial sectors.

The Ideal Applicant:



* Currently a Design Manager with 5+ years experience in the same or similar role.
* You will have worked as part of a team and also as stand alone Design Manager.
* You will be a Design Manager with previous experience of working on £3+ million projects.
* Working knowledge of a variety of frameworks would be an advantage.
* Highly motivated and committed to the highest standards.
* Focused on achieving the forecasted project margins
* As the Design Manager you will support the implementation and manage the control of the design process to ensure that the design and procurement of specialist packages are delivered to meet requirements and in line with cost parameters.
* Be able support project delivery teams by providing design input and cost solutions.
* Manage the implementation of design proposals ensuring they meet requirements inc budget constraints, presenting proposals for approval.
* A Design Manager with proven experience in delivering design services and successfully implementing design strategies as well as relevant project experience.
* Leadership skills in a matrix organisation required to deliver design services in a timely manner with a customer and business sector specific focus.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
* Know 'what good looks like' in bid submissions and work winning with hands on experience of delivering work-winning bids in a timely manner.
* Experience within the most current forms of procurement.
* Relevant Professional membership with an appropriate institute, e.g. RIBA, BIBSE, IET, aligned to the workstream is recommended.
* Excellent IT Skills relevant to the business stream are desirable and Microsoft Office is essential.
* Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material.
