Digital Transformation Programme Manager - Must be available to start Oct 1 2018 _ Agile and Advanced MSP Practitioner

Role Purpose…

More than 1m people with cancer visit our website for support every year, and we want to improve the experience they have and the services we offer while growing the number of people we reach digitally. This role will lead a transformation programme to improve the experience, personalisation, integration, and effectiveness the digital estate for people living with cancer, supporters, volunteers and professionals.

With this 2 year+ contract you will get:

In this role, your accountabilities and responsibilities are…

-Manage a complex, cross- organisational digital transformation programme of work, working closely with strategic delivery partner(s) and stakeholders
-Work with the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) and other stakeholders to manage the programme, and to realise expected benefits, including: planning and control, significant stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, budget management, governance and reporting.
-Ensure business requirements from multiple business areas are integrated and prioritised to deliver strategic benefits.
-Be a key member of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO), change and programme management community to manage impact on other strategic programmes and other programme dependencies, risks and issues.
-Work with the Programme Sponsor, external partners, the corporate PMO Team, Business Leads and resource providers to ensure the overall success of the programme and achievement of agreed deliverables, timescales and benefits.
-Be responsible for ensuring the programme is governed effectively, often deputising for the SRO where required.
-Work collaboratively with a variety of Subject Matter Experts (SME) (i.e. Specialist Advisors, HR/ legal advisors (both internal and externally commissioned etc) to drive the programme forward at pace and achieving maximum value.
-Ensure benefits management, financial management, risk management, assurance, evaluation, resource management and best practice project and programme management throughout the delivery of assigned programmes.
-Deliver this challenging programme on time, overseeing the development of a programme plan, including associated reporting, risk plan, stakeholder analysis and communication plan, and ensure that the plan is adequately resourced, developing business cases as required.
-Collaborate with corporate PMO to optimise and implement project management and delivery processes.


The responsibilities, accountabilities and reporting structure for this role

-Line manage programme staff, and SMEs, in either matrix or direct line management capacity
-Manage the identification, procurement and management of external consultants and advisors as required. Manage contracts with them, building a strong partnership founded on trust, support and challenge, and ensuring maximum value and learning from its investments
-Ensure the programme delivers to budget, managing the budget and resources deployed within the programme, maintaining robust estimates on the total cost and spend throughout its lifecycle
-Be an active part of the Project and Programme Manager Support Network, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, shared learning and continuous improvement.
-Establish best practice approach to change management and incorporate into lifecycle coaching staff in best practice.
-Provide inspirational and strong leadership and management to the Programme Team, building a committed, empowered and successful team through effective selection, development, talent and performance management

To do this role, you will need to have…

Considerable and substantial career history (circa 7+years) in leading front end digital transformation projects of scale, for large charities or public sector bodies looking to update their digital offering

Qualified, ideally Advanced MSP Practitioner who has a track record of combining the best of programme management with agile delivery.

Agile and waterfall project management qualifications and experience also essential.

Excellent understanding of the digital landscape with demonstrable experience of successful delivery of digital transformation programmes of comparable scale and ambition in organisations of similar complexity.

Clear evidence of having made a direct contribution to furthering organisational strategy and plans. This should include an appreciation of the broader business requirements, and an understanding how digital programmes integrate with and support the rest of the organisation.

Ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences including senior managers to make sometimes complex issues clear and easy to comprehend;

Solid experience of organisational change, developed in a complex and fluid environment.

Highly developed leadership, facilitation and communications skills at Executive level, presenting to and influencing senior client and internal groups.

Experience of building and managing large Project/Agile matrix delivery teams, and resourcing structures.

Demonstrated expertise in the delivery of successful large-scale projects and programmes.

Ability to evaluate information quickly, identify key issues and formulate solutions based on sound, practical judgment, experience, and common sense.

Coaching skills, underpinned by a collaborative and supportive style of working.

Proven experience challenging senior leaders in a productive and professional manner.
