School overview: This top level international school is part of a family of UK curriculum schools and combines over 400 years of educational excellence with a modern approach and first-rate facilities. The Shanghai school opened its doors to much fanfare in August 2016 and is a day and boarding school for students aged 2-18.

Students are expected to be fully involved and achieve their best in academic studies, extra-curricular activities and House events. The curriculum of Early Years is based on the EYFS curriculum while Pre-Prep is based on the National Curriculum of England with flavours of the International Primary Curriculum evident. Similarly, Prep, is based on the National Curriculum with the International Middle Years Curriculum influencing curriculum themes and learning approaches. The focus of the Upper School curricula is IGCSE and A-levels.

Requirements:

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Academic programmes within the School to ensure that all activities, routines and rules are properly understood, sensibly conducted and conscientiously observed in order to ensure that the school's high reputation is suitably maintained.

Responsibilities include:



* Working closely with the School's leadership team to produce the strategic development plan and write a termly and yearly Action Plan in line with the aims and objectives of the school.
* Provide Coaching and Mentoring of staff to ensure professional dialogues are happening across the School and linked closely to the Academic progress and development of the pupils.
* In line with the Whole School Performance Review policy and principles, support with the Teaching and Learning within the School in order to ensure that proper performance is established and maintained
* Assist the Head Master to monitor and implement a clear and realistic staffing plan for Academic staff.
* Sorting and managing the cover for absent staff in the School, ensuring that all duties and lessons are covered appropriately.
* Responsible for the construction of the Whole School Timetable for each new academic year, in consultation with SLT and HoDs.
* Oversee the coordination of assessment and academic tracking in the School so that it can be used by the Middle Leaders and teaching staff to raise standards of academic achievement by students within the School.
* In liaison with the Head Master, Deputy Head, Heads of Phase and Heads of Department; oversee with the organisation and implementation of an appropriate curriculum for the School, having regard to the needs, experience, interests, aptitudes and stages of development of the pupils

Person specification:



* Minimum of 5 years recent successful teaching experience preferably in an International School
* Proven experience of leading and managing change at an appropriate level including the curriculum, classroom organisation and administration.
* Evidence of the ability to maintain effective classroom behaviour in a positive context and to promote well-ordered and self-controlled behaviour throughout the School.
* Evidence of a clear view about the future development of the Academic programmes and an ability to manage change.
* A detailed knowledge of Primary practice and policy gained through first-hand experience, strategic management and direct delivery.
* Excellent programme and staff management skills.
