job description

Elementary School Counsellor - Cairo, Egypt, August 2019

Curriculum: US / IB

Experience: 3 Years

Contract: 2 Years

Salary: Competitive

Experienced teachers with at least three years in the profession are required for this well established and reputable American and IB curriculum international school located just outside of Cairo. Teachers must appreciate that they will be working in a cultural and ESL environment of diversity and demonstrate personal and practical attributes that reflect empathy and differentiation. This school is well resourced and part of a well-established schools group.

Whether it is waking up and seeing the pyramids, or floating down the Nile this place has it all. It has the ancient historical sites for endless sightseeing - that gets numerous tourists lining up daily. Cairo itself is a metropolis like no other but New Cairo where the school is based is like a mini city itself. There is a buzzing centre, with an impressive number of expats living and working and revelling in the good quality expat lifestyle it provides. Cairo is right on the doorstep to allow for easy international connections, but New Cairo is just far enough to feel like a world of its own. The low cost of living is a great advantage, and many expat save more than expected.

Package: A good salary (approx. US$27800 per annum with 5% matching contribution retirement plan) and employment package ( annual flights, medical insurance, shared accommodation - or housing allowance - and benefits including education extending up to 2 dependent children if both parents are teachers - 50% if only one is a teacher) coupled with a low cost of living, access to professional development and a location in one of the most adventurous and historical countries in North Africa make this an exciting opportunity. North American applicants are preferred to reflect the school profile and curriculum but teachers with IB/MYP/PYP curriculum experience of other nationalities are welcome to apply.
