A mixed gender public secondary school for ages 11-16 is seeking a English teacher to teach English language and literature across key stages 3 and 4. The Ofsted rated 'good' school was complimented by one parent quoting that the school has a 'strong ethos of developing the whole person, encouraging kindness'. The school is within a mile of the most local train station which is on the mainline between Brighton and London and is easily accessible by car being close to the A23 and A27.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Preparing lessons in line with the curriculum for English
* Teaching courses in English literature & language
* Instant thinking and problem solving to set additional tasks for strong students or provide additional support to weaker students
* Preparing and explaining challenging homework
* Marking of completed work with effective feedback to supplement the marking
* Strong classroom behaviour management skills and ability to work alone
* Constantly reviewing and ensuring the safety and safeguarding of students

Key requirements for the position include:

* In date DBS check with no reprimands which would prohibit you from working with children
* A degree and a relevant teaching qualification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT)
* Experience of teaching English is essential - no appropriate for teachers of English as a foreign language
* Positive forward-thinking attitude to reflect your passion for the subject
